Operator’s Manual External Clock/Trigger (CKTRIG) for LeCroy Digital Instruments External Clock/Trigger Capabilities The External Clock/Trigger (CKTRIG) hardware installed in your LeCroy digital instrument offers these special capabilities: > External Reference: phase-synchronization to an external 10 MHz reference — either to match the stability of the external source, or to phase-lock the acquired signal. Several instruments can then be synchronized using a single source as reference. See next page. > Trigger Comparator pulse generated each time a valid trigger condition is encountered on the trigger signal — invaluable for event-counting and throughput applications. See page 7. > External Clock for externally clocking at a fixed frequency1, enabling full phase control over the acquired signal. As well, the sample rate can be fine-tuned to the exact speed required for the application in hand. See page 13. Thus, CKTRIG can provide a uniquely high degree of synchronization between instruments, and between the instrument and the external environment.

LeCroy 1990 Catalog and Reference Guide to Digital Waveform Instruments. publication is the first complete compendium of LeCroy waveform generation and measurement products oriented to the research, test and measurement fields. It provides selection guides, descriptions and specifications in enough detail to enable you to select items for demonstration or further consideration that are most appropriate for your application. However, this edition of the Catalog does not document the entire LeCroy product line. A separate volume contains our instruments for High Energy Physics research. As the attributes of digital wavefrom instruments involve concepts foreign to their analog counterparts, a selection of tutorial material is included in this Book for ready reference. A convenient glossary in the Appendix defines terms used herein, and a tutorial section describes concepts from the fundamentals of waveform digitizing and digital oscilloscopes to the hows and whys of arbitrary function generators. Other convenient references, like cable attenuation charts, conversion factors, and resistor codes are also provided. In addition, realizing that digital instruments generally cost more than their analog counterparts, attention is given to explaining how conversion to digital waveform instruments pays in the long run. Hopefully, the concepts presented therein will be of interest to you. LeCroy instruments strive to give you the high performance and convenience of operation that you should expect from your equipment. Similarly, this Catalog and reference guide is intended to help make the decision process more efficient.

ORM & AORM Optical Recording Measurements/Advanced Operator’s Manual The Optical Recording Measurement (ORM) Package for LeCroy digital oscilloscopes provides a set of waveform measurements and mathematical functions for the analysis of optical recording signals. Parameter measurements allow the categorizing and listing of measurement values in a variety of ways. The math functions (Histogramming and Trending) enable information to be revealed graphically. In addition to all the capabilities of ORM, the Advanced Optical Recording Measurement (AORM) package provides parameter measurements for evaluating jitter due to intersymbol interface and emulation of DVD’s equalizer, slicer, and PLL. This functionality helps you to perform clock and jitter measurements, independent of a specific Integrated Circuit, allowing you to concentrate on optical head or media performance only. It also provides you with a new Setup and View wizard, which simplifies the setup process and lets you see the wav eforms and measurements — with a histogram, trend or XY plot of the measurements — at the press of a button. To support adv anced optical recording driv es that have constant angular v elocity (CAV) or zone constant linear velocity (ZCLV), parameter measurements support automatic determination of the clock period.
